The collection contains a brass cavalry sabre with a leather covered scabbard. By family tradition the sword belonged to Wheat, of the Louisiana Tigers. Also included are a picture of a presentation of the sword, 1931 October 20, and a note attesting to its authenticity, 1957 August 31, by James M. Thomson.
